Fourth-Seeded Duke Opens Action at Regional on Monday

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Duke women's golf team got its first look at the Vanderbilt Legends Club on Sunday as the Blue Devils walked the course for a practice round this morning. The fourth-seeded Blue Devils will open action in the NCAA Franklin Regional on Monday beginning at 9 a.m. (ET).
"The course is in great shape," said Duke head coach Dan Brooks. "The greens are slick and firm. They have done a great job here. It has been a little while since we have been here. The course has matured, some of the trees have grown up. It is maybe even a little more challenging."
The regional will be held May 9-11 and will feature 54 holes of action. The top four teams following Wednesday's final round will advance to the NCAA Championship.
"We did a great job today," said Brooks. "We spent a lot of time hitting long putts. I think that is going to be important in this tournament, because the greens are firm enough where your approaches are going to run a little."
Duke is competing in its 29th straight NCAA Regional and has finished in the top four of regional play in 23 out of the last 25 seasons.
The Blue Devils feature a young group in 2022 with two juniors – Megan Furtney and Erica Shepherd; two sophomores – Phoebe Brinker and Anne Chen; and one freshman – Rylie Heflin.
Duke will tee off on Monday morning along with Oregon State and Vanderbilt at 9 a.m. (ET) off hole No. 10.
"I thought they did a good job through finals week to stay ready," said Brooks. "It has been an academic time, but we have done everything we can. I saw a lot of great shots out there today. I think we are ready to go."
