DURHAM – Duke senior men's golfer
Quinn Riley has announced his intention to turn pro and that he will compete in a pair of pro tournaments in the next two months on the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour.
Finishing the year as the No. 1-ranked golfer in the collegiate rankings for the Advocates Pro Golf Association (APGA) Tour, Riley receives a sponsor's exemption into the REX Hospital Open on the Korn Ferry Tour. The REX is set for June 2-5 at TPC Wakefield Plantation in his hometown of Raleigh.
Additionally, the Blue Devil has earned a sponsor's exemption on the PGA Tour and will compete in the John Deere Classic June 27-July 3 at TPC Deere Run in Illinois.
"The last four years at Duke has been, especially after graduating, it's been very rewarding," said Riley. "I know at times it's been difficult for me and kind of making it to the end and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, I think helped this season for me. I'm extremely thankful for the opportunity I've got here. I'll proudly represent Duke everywhere I go, wherever golf takes me, and I'm extremely appreciative for the opportunity that they've given me."
Riley earned his degree from Duke in May in sociology, with a minor in African & African American studies and a certificate in markets and management.
"Everyone in the Duke Golf program, myself included, is absolutely thrilled for Quinn to have earned opportunities to compete on the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour," said head coach
Jamie Green. "It was exciting for all of us to watch Quinn's hard work for four years pay off with a very strong senior year, and especially strong final half of the spring semester."

Riley, a Raleigh native, capped his Duke career with a career-best 72.38 scoring average this season in helping lead the Blue Devils to the NCAA Columbus Regional. The senior was the individual medalist at the Stitch Intercollegiate in April as Duke claimed the team title. He also led the team with a top-20 finish at the ACC Championship in May.
"He's got all the tools that will allow for him to have a successful career as a professional golfer," said Green. "He's got plenty of speed, and length with the driver. He's got tremendous touch and can hit some amazing shots around the greens. When his iron play and putting are locked in, he can go as low as anyone. He really understands the game tactically. He's continued to work hard on all parts of his game physically and mentally, and we're excited to see him take advantage of the opportunity he's created for himself."
