GoDuke.com will highlight each swimming and diving signee in the class of 2022. First up is Audrey Portello of Davis, Calif.
Audrey Portello joins the Blue Devils after wrapping up a successful prep career in California. A native of Davis, Calif., Portello will graduate from Davis Senior High School, where she swam for head coach John Varley. On the club scene, the breaststroke, freestyle and individual medley specialist swam at DART Swimming - Davis under coaches Billy Doughty and Ray Weiser. She is the daughter of Will and Cammie Portello. She has one younger sister, Ava.
Why Duke in one word? Welcoming
What is your favorite swimming memory so far? Getting my first Junior Nationals cut in 2019. It had been my goal for a while, and it was exciting to celebrate with my team.
What is your pre-race hype song? The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani
Do you have any hidden talents? Parallel parking and photography
If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pasta, 100%
A fun fact about you? I love my cat (Little Chef), 0.5x photos and good coffee!

I was drawn to Duke University’s commitment to supporting student athletes, both in sport and in the classroom, in addition to supporting them as a person.
