GoDuke.com will highlight each swimming and diving signee in the class of 2022. Next up is Austin Simpson of New York City, N.Y.
Austin Simpson will make his way to Durham after graduating from Riverdale Country School this spring. Simpson is the fourth-ranked prospect out of the state of New York. He swam under the tutelage of Tracy Wright and BJ Reynoso at Riverdale Country School. On the club scene, the New York City native swam at Condors Swim Club under head coach Jon Hulbert.
He is the son of Alex and Lisa Simpson and has one sister, Shae. Each of his parents, Alex and Lisa, are Duke graduates, receiving their JD's from the Duke Law School in 1993 and 1994, respectively, and Lisa also received an A.B. from Duke in 1991. Austin comes from a family of collegiate athletes, as his sister is a current member of the Duke rowing program. In addition, his dad, Alex, competed on Dartmouth's heavyweight rowing team from 1985-1989 while his grandfather, George Simpson, was a member of the Cornell swimming team 1957-61.
