Stitch Intercollegiate Begins Friday at Lonnie Poole GC

DURHAM – In the final regular-season tournament before the ACC Championship, the Duke men's golf team is set for the Stitch Intercollegiate, which begins Friday at Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Cary.
The two-day event features 36 holes of play on Friday with Saturday's final round of 18 holes on the 7,287-yard, par-72 course that is home to the NC State Wolfpack. NC State is hosting the 13-team event, which also includes ACC foe Notre Dame.
Friday's 36 holes of continuous plays begins at 8 a.m., and sees the Blue Devils paired with Georgia Southern and College of Charleston. The groups are off the first tee beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Sophomore Ian Siebers leads Duke into the Stitch Intercollegiate, along with classmate Jimmy Zheng, freshman Luke Sample, senior Quinn Riley and freshman Kelly Chinn. Graduate student Qi wen Wong, sophomore Daniel Uranga and freshman John Peters will be playing individually.
Chinn and Siebers are each fresh off top-10 finishes at the Valspar Collegiate as the Blue Devils posted a fourth-place team finish. Chinn fired a final-round 65 on his way to finishing fifth at 10-under 203, while Siebers bookended a pair of 70s around a career-low 64 Â to place sixth at 9-under 204.
Following the Stitch, Duke and NC State will square off in a match play event on April 15, the I-40 Cup, at the Carolina CC before the ACC Championship begins April 21 at Watersound Club in Panama City Beach, Fla.
