DURHAM – No. 13 Duke softball (28-5, 11-2 ACC) starts an 11-game road swing, opening the trip with a non-conference matchup against UNC-Greensboro on Wednesday night at 6 p.m., at UNCG Softball Stadium.
Wednesday's game against the Spartans (25-10, 6-0 SoCon) will be streamed on ESPN Plus.
Last Time Out
Duke polished off another ACC series sweep, taking down Boston College over three games last weekend. The Blue Devils outscored the Eagles 29-1, winning all three games via run rule to accomplish a run-rule sweep of an ACC opponent for the first time in program history.
Peyton St. George and
Jala Wright stifled the Eagles offense, allowing just seven hits all weekend between the two of them, while
Ana Gold launched two home runs in the series to lead an aggressive offense.

Duke vs. UNC Greensboro – Duke Leads, 1-0
The Blue Devils and Spartans have met once before, with the last meeting coming in the 2021 NCAA Regional in Athens, Ga. The Blue Devils scored the program's first ever NCAA win, downing the Spartans 2-0 on May 21.
Shelby Walters and St. George combined for seven shutout innings in the circle, with Walters going five scoreless to start the game.
Deja Davis came home on an error by UNCG, and
Caroline Jacobsen launched a solo home run in the second inning to pace the offense.
Scouting The Opponent
UNC Greensboro: At 25-10, the Spartans have won nine straight games, including a 6-0 start to SoCon play. Duke and UNCG have several common opponents this season, with the Spartans defeating Charlotte and Penn State, but falling to Boston College, Elon and NC State. Maycin Brown continues to be a catalyst for the Spartans' offense, hitting .393 with seven home runs and 18 RBI, while five others have nine or more home runs, led by Jordan Gontram with 11. Morgan Scott is the UNCG ace, going 15-6 with a 2.57 ERA (138.2 IP) so far this season, throwing 16 complete games.

What to Watch For
- Jameson Kavel has been one of the top doubles' hitters in the nation with 12 on the year to rank first in the ACC and seventh nationally. She is closing in on the program's single season record of 15, set by Raine Wilson in 2018.
- Kavel is also on a 17-game on-base streak, the longest streak for her this season and second-longest by a Blue Devil this season, behind Jacobsen's 21 to open the year.
- Rachel Crabtree is also on a lengthy on-base streak of her own, standing at 13 straight games.
- St. George ranks fifth in the nation in wins with 15 and needs just five more to set a new single season program record.
- In addition to Kavel (doubles) and St. George (wins), the Blue Devils have several other top-25 national marks. Wright ranks 19th in hits allowed per seven innings (4.04), Kavel ranks 21st in total bases (85) and Foreman sits 23rd in home runs per game (0.38).
- Duke is swinging for the fences early this season, ranking ninth in the nation in home runs per game at 1.73. Foreman and Kavel lead the team with 10 on the season.
- With 57 home runs on the season, the Blue Devils have already blown past their single season record of 47 from last season.
- The Blue Devils continue to lead the ACC in batting average (.332), slugging percentage (.626), on-base percentage (.425) and scoring (7.18 runs per game), while ranking in the top-10 nationally in home runs per game, scoring and on-base percentage.
