INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Duke Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Shawn Wilbourn has been selected as one of four assistant coaches for the United States' Men's Track and Field national team at the 2022 World Athletics Championships Oregon22, the organization announced Wednesday.
Wilbourn will coach the throws and multis units and is set to join the athletes selected to represent Team USATF in Eugene, Oregon from July 15 through July 29.
"It's an honor to be selected to coach our best athletes in our country at a major global championship.," said Wilbourn. "This will be the first time that the world championships will be held in the USA. The impact that will have on our athletes and coaches is indescribable. What a thrill that will be!"
The 2022 indoor season saw the Wilbourn-led Blue Devils set 38 combined top-five program marks, including four school records, earn 11 medals at the conference meet and win the women's ACC Indoor Championship. Graduate students

Isabel Wakefield also qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's mile and women's pentathlon, respectively, with the trio each earning first team All-America honors.
Under Wilbourn's guidance, Duke has amassed 28 top-five all-time marks so far during the outdoor season, including a pair of school records.

Duke is amid the final stretch of the outdoor season with just two regular season meets remaining before hosting the 2022 ACC Outdoor Championships.
