Duke Places 17 on Indoor All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM – Seventeen members of the Duke track and field were named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
The 16th-ranked Duke women feature 11 athletes on the list – graduate students Lauren Hoffman, Erin Marsh and Michaela Reinhart, senior Isabel Wakefield, juniors Halle Bieber, Jenna Crean and Samantha Schadler, sophomores Moorea Mitchell, Brianna Smith and Charlotte Tomkinson and freshman Megan McGinnis.
On the men's side, graduate students Nick Dahl, Erick Duffy, Michael Fairbanks and Donovan Spearman, junior Beau Allen and sophomore Gage Knight represent the Blue Devils.
Dahl, Marsh and Wakefield competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the men's mile and women's pentathlon. All three competitors earned All-America First Team honors, headlined by Marsh's runner-up finish in the pentathlon. Several more of this season's All-ACC Academic honorees earned All-ACC distinctions at the ACC Indoor Championships.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
