What is your favorite rowing memory?
NC: I will never forget summer nationals of 2021. In the 4x semifinals, my boatmates and I were sitting on the start line. The race started and the adrenaline was pumping. As we went down the race course the boat truly felt like it was floating. It was probably the best race I have ever completed. That is what sets it apart from every other race. I remember crossing the finish line and being overwhelmed with exhaustion and happiness. Returning off the water, my boatmates and I were tearing up because we were so happy. I think this will always be my favorite memory.
Why did you choose to row for Duke?
NC: All of Duke's community have this immense amount of pride to be a Blue Devil. This confidence along with an extremely welcoming and kind coaching staff are a few of the things that have attracted me to Duke rowing. I know that I will be challenged both athletically and academically at Duke.
What stuck out to you about the team that made the decision to attend Duke feel right?
NC: In every single conversation I had with anyone associated with Duke rowing, I only felt more called to the team and school. There is an extreme care for each individual student-athlete that I really felt. I truly felt like Duke rowing was a family and not just a team, and that is how I knew that it was the right choice.
