DURHAM – A trio of Duke women's golfers –
Anne Chen,
Megan Furtney and
Rylie Heflin – are set to compete as individuals in the Chattanooga Classic, which will take place March 27-29 at the 6,234-yard, par-72 Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Blue Devils will not be playing as a team, as Duke junior
Erica Shepherd and sophomore
Phoebe Brinker are getting prepared to take part in the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) March 30 through April 2 in Augusta, Ga.
Seeing action in the Chattanooga Classic will be Chattanooga, Central Arkansas, Colorado State, East Carolina, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Indiana, Iowa, James Madison, Middle Tennessee, Murray State, North Florida, Old Dominion, Samford, Southern Miss, UTSA, Wisconsin and Yale.
The format will include 54 holes with 18 played each day with live scoring available on GolfStat.com.
Chen, a product of Sugar Land, Texas, has collected a 73.32 stroke average over 19 rounds this season with top-20 finishes at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Tar Heel Invitational and the East Lake Cup. Furtney, who is from St. Charles, Ill., has counted three out of her last four rounds heading into the tournament. A native of Avondale, Pa., Heflin owns a 75.29 stroke average and has registered five rounds of 74 or better over her last seven.
