DURHAM – No. 13 Duke softball (23-4, 8-1 ACC) hits the road for another three-game ACC set, matching up with Notre Dame at Melissa Cook Stadium in South Bend, Ind.
The weekend against the Fighting Irish (22-6, 4-2 ACC) will begin with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m., and conclude with the finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed via ACC Network Extra.
Last Time Out
Duke won its first ACC series against a ranked opponent for the first time in program history, taking two of three games against No. 17 Clemson last weekend.
Peyton St. George was key in the circle once again, throwing two complete games and going 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA (14.0 IP), striking out 19 batters.
Rachel Crabtree paced the offense, hitting two home runs, while her and
Kamryn Jackson each hit .429 in the series and combined for seven RBI.

The Blue Devils and Fighting Irish will meet for the 12th time in program history, with the Blue Devils taking three of the last four games in the series. Scouting The Opponent
Notre Dame: The Fighting Irish have won six straight games and get a chance to host an opponent at Melissa Cook Stadium for just the third time this season, with two planned home games this week seeing postponement due to inclement weather. Reigning ACC Player of the Week Karina Gaskins, who hit .750 last week, is the impact bat of the offense, with a .408 batting average, seven home runs and 34 RBI. Abby Sweet is another key piece on offense, hitting a team leading .414, while Alexis Holloway, Payton Tidd, and Shannon Becker split time in the circle.
What to Watch For
- Kristina Foreman and Caroline Jacobsen are closing in on 100 career RBIs, with Foreman just one away and Jacobsen two away.
- Jameson Kavel has been one of the top doubles hitters in the nation with 10 on the year to rank 14th nationally. She is closing in on the program's single season record of 15, set by Raine Wilson in 2018.
- In addition, Kavel is just one double away from 50 in her collegiate career.
- St. George ranks fifth in the nation in wins with 13 and needs just seven more to set a new single season program record.
- Duke is swinging for the fences early this season, ranking fifth in the nation in home runs per game at 1.81, behind only No. 1 Oklahoma, Wichita State, No. 16 Georgia, and No. 10 Arkansas. Foreman and Kavel lead the team with eight on the season.
- With 49 home runs on the season, the Blue Devils have already blown past their single season record of 47 from last season.
- In addition to leading the ACC in home runs per game, the Blue Devils also lead the league in batting average (.338), slugging percentage (.636), on-base percentage (.428) and scoring (7.11 runs per game).
- The Blue Devils have won 14 consecutive games against ACC opponents outside of Durham, with three road wins over Georgia Tech and one neutral site win over Louisville this season.
