How did you get started in rowing?
AW: During one of my high school activity fairs I saw a tent for my high school rowing team and I thought I would give it a shot. After realizing how much I liked the sport I decided to transfer to Chicago Rowing Foundation.
What stuck out to you about the team that made the decision to attend Duke feel right?
AW: What stuck out to me about the team was how much it seemed like one big family. During my official visit, I observed those who are older really helping out and guiding the underclassmen. This sense of family really made Duke feel like the right decision for me.
What did you love about Duke and Durham when you visited?
AW: Coming from a big city, I loved how spacious and forest-like the campus seemed to me. I especially
loved the Duke Gardens and can definitely see myself going there. Also, I really liked the variety of food choices available in Durham; there seems to be a new place on every corner!
