Duke Seeding Announced for ACC Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Redshirt senior Josh Finesilver leads the way for Duke wrestling, as the ACC has announced its seeding for the 2022 ACC Championships on Mar. 6 in Charlottesville, Va.

Finesilver was tabbed as the No. 3 seed at 149 pounds, good for the highest seed among Duke wrestlers. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native capped off a 25-4 regular season campaign, ranking 14th in the nation at 149 pounds by InterMat.

His 25 wins were the most in a single season in his career, with four wins coming against ranked opponents. He will open his tournament against sixth-seeded Dan Mancini (Pittsburgh), who he won his last match against in a 12-3 major decision on Feb. 18.

The next highest seed is his brother Matt Finesilver, who checks in as the No. 4 seed at 174 pounds, in a highly competitive field made up of four top-20 wrestlers. Finesilver will get a rematch with fifth-seeded Justin Phillips (Virginia), who he downed 6-0 in a decision on Feb. 12. Finesilver also enters with 25 wins, with a mark of 25-5 overall.

Juniors Jonah Niesenbaum and Wade Unger also enter as No. 5 seeds, with tight rematches in play for both wrestlers against fourth-seeded Quinn Miller (Virginia) and Elijah Cleary (Pittsburgh) respectively.
