Duke Pushes Home Win Streak to 13
The Blue Devils' two wins this weekend pushed their home win streak to 13, dating back to Feb. 1, 2020. Duke is 125-23 in games in Durham under head coach
John Danowski. The Blue Devils have gone unbeaten at home three times since 2007, including last season. Duke plays eight more regular season home games this year, four of which come in the next 16 days.
Blue Devil Firsts
There were a lot of firsts for the Blue Devils over the weekend. From first career starts to first points in a Duke uniform, there were many memorable moments.
Scoring their first career points as Blue Devils were
Cole Krauss,
Sean Lulley, Andrew McAdorey and
Grant Mitchell. Krauss, in his first collegiate game, netted a transition goal to help Duke beat Robert Morris. Krauss also had four ground balls and two caused turnovers as a longstick midfielder in the two contests.
McAdorey finished his first weekend as a Blue Devil with two goals and two assists, while Lulley had two goals and three assists in his first games after transferring to Duke. Mitchell, a junior repping the Duke jersey for the first time, posted a goal and an assist.
Junior
Will Frisoli and
Frank Marinello both earned their first career starts against Robert Morris as did McAdorey.
Man-Up and Man-Down Magic
The Blue Devils were excellent on man-up offense over the weekend, finishing 4-of-6 for .667.
Brennan O'Neill had two and
Dyson Williams and
Owen Caputo both had one. Last season, Duke was 24-of-51 for .471 to rank sixth nationally. O'Neill had nine of the 24 goals, the second most in the country in 2021.
Duke was equally as impressive on man-down defense, holding opponents to just two extra-man goals on nine opportunities, including allowing just one goal during a three-minute unreleasable penalty.
Numbers to Watch Going Forward
Joe Robertson
Robertson needs just 19 points to become the 14th Duke player to reach 200 career points. Justin Guterding '18 was the last Blue Devil to reach the benchmark and only eight have done so since 2005. Robertson also needs just 21 goals to become the ninth Blue Devil to score 150 in his career.
Mike Adler
Following a superb weekend between the pipes with 31 saves and a .620 save percentage, Adler pushed his career saves total to 619 and minutes played to 3,030. He is 113 saves shy of moving into the top 25 on the NCAA all-time saves list. Only four goalies who competed in the 21st century are in the top 25 on that NCAA career chart. He needs 271 minutes to break into the top 25 in that category and 568 to break into the top 10.
Brennan O'Neill
Sophomore
Brennan O'Neill pushed his career points total to 64 (54g, 10a) over the weekend. He needs 36 to become the 49th player in program history to reach the century mark in his career. O'Neill is averaging 3.37 points per game for his career. Former Blue Devil
Justin Guterding holds the record for fastest player to 100 career points, reaching the benchmark in 25 games.

Matt Danowski, 27
Zack Greer, 29
Jordan Wolf, 34
Carpenter Has the Scoop
Preseason All-America and All-ACC choice
Tyler Carpenter once again was outstanding off the ground and on defense for the Blue Devils. He registered five caused turnovers, eight ground balls and an assist. He scooped up five ground balls in the season opener, his 12th time collecting at least five GBs. Friday night's game also was his fourth with at least three caused turnovers. His eight ground balls pushed his career total to 103, while the five caused turnovers moved him to 37 in his 27 games.
Looking at the Defense
The Blue Devils were tough defensively on opening weekend, forcing 44 turnovers and holding opponents to a .738 clearing percentage. Duke allowed 19 goals combined as their opponents shot just 24.4 percent. Robert Morris fired 42 shots in the game, but only scored 12. Vermont had 36 looks at goal, but managed just seven tallies. Fourteen different Blue Devils registered at least one caused turnover.
A Balanced Duke
The Blue Devils scored 36 goals over the weekend, getting tallies from 14 different players. The Duke attack did not disappoint as the trio of Wiliams, O'Neill and Robertson combined for 19 of the 36 goals and 26 of the 54 points. Williams and O'Neill both had at least three goals in both games with O'Neill registering a sock trick.
Nakeie Montgomery picked up his first hat trick of the season against Vermont Sunday.
