BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior
Isabel Wakefield earned silver in the women's pentathlon as the Blue Devils wrapped up the opening day of the 2022 ACC Indoor Championships Thursday evening.
Wakefield secured her spot on the All-ACC First team and earned her second-career All-ACC honor after finishing as runner-up in the event with 4,147 points. Her performance included a pair of first-place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (8.20 seconds) and long jump (6.11m (20-0.50 feet)) – the latter improving her No. 4 all-time program mark. Wakefield also took second in the pentathlon 800m run with a 2:14.16 finish.
Gage Knight also had a solid showing in the first day of the men's heptathlon. Through four events, the sophomore is currently slotted in fourth with 3,011 points. Knight's best performances of the day came via the 60m and long jump. The Crystal Beach, Fla., native took first in the 60m as he dashed a personal-best 6.93 seconds, while his leap of 7.04m (23-1.25 feet) placed third. Knight wraps up the pentathlon Friday with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meter run remaining.

Michael Bennett kick off an action-packed day two with the final three heptathlon events, beginning with the 60m hurdles at 10 a.m. Additionally, 41 other Blue Devils will compete across 18 track and field events throughout the day.
