DURHAM – Duke women's lacrosse sophomore attacker
Katie DeSimone was named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Duke improved to 2-0 overall in the young season after two dominating wins, tallying a whopping 47 goals in two contests. Duke's 39 points on Sunday set a Duke single-game record as the previous of 38 was also set against Elon.
DeSimone had two standout performances on the offensive front for the Blue Devils. The Bay Shore, N.Y., native posted 13 goals and an assist for 14 points off a .650 shooting percentage. She also grabbed four ground balls and a caused turnover. Her seven goals against Elon ties for second on Duke's individual single-game records list.
Last season, the ACC All-Freshman Team honoree collected 25 goals and is well on her way to exceeding that this spring.
Duke will hit the road for two consecutive contests away from Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils will take on William & Mary Friday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m., before a 1 p.m., contest against High Point on Feb. 20.
