What is your favorite rowing memory?
AL: My favorite rowing memory was racing with my boat at the 2021 Youth Nationals. We had all gotten really close and we each wanted to win for each other. Having such an amazing bond and hunger to win in the boat made our races feel electric.
Why did you choose to row for Duke?
AL: When I was researching Duke, I was really attracted by the mixture of rigor in both athletics and academics. The coaches also have an amazing commitment to training coxswains just as much as they train rowers, and I really wanted to cox somewhere where I could learn and improve.
What impact do you plan to make in your Duke rowing career?
AL: I really want to work with the team at duke to help break program records. As a coxswain, I feel like I really have the opportunity to help each rower develop and grow, and I want to do that as much as I can.
What stuck out to you about the team that made the decision to attend Duke feel right?
AL: I was really impressed with the overall drive to improve at Duke. Everyone on the team seemed really committed to breaking program records and getting better as a team, not just as individuals. Duke really felt like a place where everyone wanted to, and could, make program history together.
