DURHAM – Duke men's lacrosse head coach
John Danowski has announced the 2023 schedule featuring eight home contests, including matchups against ACC foes North Carolina, Syracuse and Virginia.
The Blue Devils, coming off an 11-6 season, play five games in the month of February before starting conference play in March. The regular season wraps up on the first weekend of May as the ACC once again will not hold an ACC Tournament.
The February Slate
Action gets underway in Koskinen Stadium with the season opener Feb. 4 against Bellarmine. Faceoff is set for noon with the Duke men's basketball game against North Carolina set for 6:30 p.m., that evening. The Blue Devils host High Point three days later before making their first road trip Feb. 11 to Jacksonville. Duke looks to avenge the loss to the John Galloway's Dolphins last season in Durham.
The month wraps up against a pair of top-25 foes. Denver visits the Bull City Feb. 17 as the two teams square off for the 12th consecutive season with Duke holding a slight 6-5 edge in that span. A week later a road trip to face the Penn Quakers is on tap. Penn defeated Duke last season in overtime and has won four of the previous six matchups.
ACC Play Gets Underway
The Blue Devils play five games in March, including ACC matchups against Syracuse and North Carolina. The month starts with a bang as Duke opens its ACC slate on the road for a Sunday matinee at JMA Wireless Dome March 5. The Orange have won five of the past six matchups with four of the six decided by a single goal.
The annual spring break game between Duke and Loyola is set for March 10 at 7 p.m., in Koskinen Stadium. North Carolina pays a visit to Koskinen Stadium a week later for the lone meeting between the Tobacco Road rivals.
It's a quick turnaround for the Blue Devils as they play Air Force two days later, March 20, before traveling to the City of Brotherly love for a second time for a matchup with Saint Joseph's. It will be just the third time Duke has taken on the Hawks and the first time since 2017.
All ACC, All April
Duke has four games on tap for April starting with a trip to Virginia April 1. The Blue Devils have won 16 consecutive regular season contests against the Cavaliers dating back to 2005 and are 19-2 under Danowski.
Duke looks to avenge its two narrow setbacks to the Fighting Irish last season when it travels to Notre Dame for an April 8 contest. The Blue Devils are 2-3 at Arlotta Stadium in the five matchups since 2012.
Second meetings with Virginia and Syracuse cap the month. The Cavaliers come to Durham April 15 for the annual Duke Reunion Weekend contest before the Blue Devils get a weekend off.
After an extended break from game action, the Blue Devils close the ACC slate April 29 with Syracuse. Duke welcomes back the 2013 NCAA Championship squad in conjunction with the game, celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the 16-10 victory over the Orange in the NCAA title game.
May with Merrimack
Duke's lone regular season contest of May comes against Merrimack at Bethpage High School in Bethpage, N.Y. The contest will serve as Duke's annual Jimmy Regan Game as its honors former Blue Devil Jimmy Regan who was killed in action in 2007.
TV Announcements and Tickets
All games and times are subject to change. Duke's broadcast schedule will be announced in the coming weeks as the ACC and media outlets set their television schedules. Season ticket packages as well as individual game tickets will be made available on GoDuke.com/tickets shortly as well.
