DURHAM – With the completion of the 2022 campaign, TopDrawerSoccer has released its top-100 rankings with six different Duke women's soccer student-athletes listed –
Michelle Cooper (2),
Sophie Jones (4),
Ruthie Jones (54) and
Delaney Graham (86).
TopDrawerSoccer also finalized its list of the top-100 freshmen in the nation with
Kat Rader (2) and
Devin Lynch (83) among the student-athletes recognized.
Duke was the only school with two players in the top-10 of the national rankings.
A product of Clarkston, Mich., Cooper turned in the best overall season in NCAA Division I soccer in 2022 with 49 points, 19 goals and 11 assists. The United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-American and Hermann Trophy finalist was the only player in the nation to rank in the top 10 in all three categories. In the NCAA stats, Cooper ranked No. 2 in points (49), tied for second in goals (19) and tied for ninth in assists (11). She was one of only two players in the country to collect 10 or more goals and assists this season.
One of the top midfielders in the nation,
Sophie Jones started all 23 matches on the season. The Menlo Park, Calif., native collected two goals and three assists for seven points, while directing the Duke midfield. Jones' 1,911 minutes played ranked second on the Blue Devil squad. She earned TopDrawerSoccer Best XI First Team honors this week and is a three-time All-ACC selection.
Duke's starting goalkeeper for the for the last 64 straight matches,
Ruthie Jones concluded her Blue Devil career with 24 shutouts, including six this season. A product of Charlotte, N.C., Jones collected a 41-14-7 ledger over her four seasons and logged over 5,800 minutes in goal. She posted 165 saves, while facing 511 shots over her career.
Graham, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., started all 23 matches on the season and turned in seven assists, which were the third-most on the team. She helped Duke collect 11 shutouts on the defensive end as well. Graham was a United Soccer Coaches All-Region and College Sports Communicators Academic All-American for the Blue Devils in 2022.
Rader led all ACC freshmen with 12 goals to go along with five assists and 29 points. She notched seven goals against ACC opponents and led Duke with five game-winning tallies. Rader, who is from Stuart, Fla., tied a freshman record with 12 goals, her 29 points ranked tied for second on Duke's freshman charts and her five game-winners were tied for second as well.
Lynch started six of 21 matches played as a rookie in 2022. She tallied three assists on the season and logged 799 minutes in the midfield for the Blue Devils. Lynch, who is from Naperville, Ill., turned in assists on the road at Notre Dame and TCU, while also totaling an assist at home against Louisville.
As a team, Duke notched a 15-5-3 record and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the third straight season. The Blue Devils collected a 6-2-2 ledger in ACC action and advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Championship.
