DURHAM, N.C. – For the 10th time in the last 12 years, the Duke women's soccer team has been preseason ranked in the top 10 nationally as the United Soccer Coaches released its preseason Top 25 poll Tuesday with the Blue Devils ranked No. 3 overall.
The No. 3 ranking marks the fourth time in the last five seasons Duke has been a preseason top-five team and the 10th time in school history.
Stanford received 191 points and was ranked No. 1, while Notre Dame (189), Duke (183), Florida State (170), Vanderbilt (166), TCU (162), Michigan State (159), North Carolina (142), UCLA (122) and Arkansas (120) rounded out the top 10.
The ACC held the top four teams in the poll with Stanford (No. 1), Notre Dame (No. 2), Duke (No. 3) and Florida State (No. 4), while Virginia (No. 11), Wake Forest (No. 18) and Clemson (No. 25) were also ranked.
Duke will host its first of two exhibition contests Wednesday, Aug. 5, as the third-ranked Blue Devils host 18th-ranked Wake Forest at 7:30 p.m., inside Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils will conclude preseason play Saturday, Aug. 8, with a 1:30 p.m., contest against Carolina Ascent FC of the USL Gainbridge Super League. Both matches are free and open to the public.
