GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke swimming and diving completed the first two days of the 2022 Toyota U.S. Open at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Competition will continue Friday Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. with prelims and conclude for the day at 6 p.m. with finals in the IM, butterfly, freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the Wednesday finals, senior Brendan Driscoll finished third in his heat in the 800-meter freestyle, swimming a time of 8:29.95.
- Junior Catherine Belyakov kicked off the second night of finals competition for the Blue Devils, qualifying for the 200-meter IM finals and finishing 13th out of 24 finalists. Belyakov clocked a time of 2:17.39, cutting 1.04 seconds off her qualifying time.
- Freshman swimmer Tatum Wall qualified for the finals in the 50-meter freestyle and tallied a time of 26.16 in the evening swim.
- The women's 400-meter medley relay, comprised of Emma Shuppert, Kaelyn Gridley, Aleyna Ozkan and Sarah Foley, placed third overall with a time of 4:12.39, anchored by Foley's 55.73 100-meter freestyle to close out the event.
UP NEXT
- Duke continues the Toyota U.S. Open on Friday in Greensboro with the IM, Butterfly, Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke events. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. and finals begin at 6 p.m.
