DURHAM – Duke track and field freshmen
Dalia Frias,
Gianna Locci and
Falon Spearman were each named to the 2022 Girls High School All-America Team for their athletic accomplishments in their respective events during the 2021-22 season, as announced by
Track and Field News this weekend.
Frias, who recently competed at the ACC Cross Country Championships and earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors, was one of 11 athletes to score in two events. The Hermosa Beach, Calif., native ran the second-fastest two-mile time (9:50.70) and clocked the fourth-fastest 1500m/mile time (4:20.7/4:35.06).
Spearman clocked 13:55 seconds en route to winning the 2022 adidas Outdoor Nationals in the 100-meter hurdles this past June. Her time checked in at No. 5 on the 100m hurdles list. Locci produced the fourth-farthest leap in the long jump as she flew out to a personal best of 21-1.50 feet, a mark that ranked first in the state of New York.
