DURHAM – Duke senior attackman
Dyson Williams has been invited by Canada Lacrosse to return to his hometown of Oshawa, Ontario as the organization works towards selecting its roster for the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's World Championship this summer in San Diego.
Williams is among 53 of Canada's top men's lacrosse players selected to take part in a weekend of action against St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, Albany and Denver. These evaluation games will provide a final look before choosing the final 23-player roster.
"We are excited to bring such a strong group of Canadian lacrosse players together for our evaluation camp," said Canada Lacrosse general manager Dan Carey. "It is never an easy process to choose the right players for our national team, and this will be no different. We are looking forward to seeing these players come together and compete for a spot on the 2023 Canadian Men's National Team."
Williams is on the Canada Red team roster, joining standout attackmen Jeff Teat (Cornell), Ryan Smith (RMU), Mark Matthews (Denver) and Kyle Killen (RIT). The Hill Academy product enters his senior campaign for Duke with 107 points to his name. He is coming off his best season with 43 goals and 52 points and is nine goals away from becoming the 22nd Blue Devil to reach 100 career goals.
Canada Red and Canada White will be led by head coaches Matt Brown and Taylor Wray, and assistant coaches Merrick Thomson and Mark Miyashita.
The 2023 World Lacrosse Men's World Championship will take place in San Diego, California, USA, from June 21 to July 1, 2023.
