DURHAM – Former Duke men's soccer player
Sean Davis has signed as a free agent with Major League Soccer side Nashville SC, as the club announced on Tuesday.
Davis signed a three-year deal with an option for 2025, following a seven-year career with New York Red Bulls. The midfielder initially joined Red Bulls as a homegrown player, rising to the rank of captain, while leading the team to the MLS Cup Playoffs on five occasions. Davis also made headlines by being the only player in MLS to play every minute of every game this past season.
"Sean is a tremendous leader who contributes so much on and off the field," said Nashville SC General Manager
Mike Jacobs. "He has the ability to impact games on both sides of the ball, and we are so excited to add him to our group."
Over his lengthy MLS career, Davis has played in 172 games (141 starts), 10 playoff games and over 12,000 minutes, registering four goals and 23 assists, all with his homegrown Red Bulls.
With Davis signing in Nashville, the Blue Devils have five former players under contract with an MLS franchise, joining
Jeremy Ebobisse (San Jose Earthquakes),
Sebastien Ibeagha (Los Angeles FC),
Will Pulisic (Austin FC) and
Brian White (Vancouver Whitecaps FC).
