Food and Beverage Service Suspension Continued...
Duke Athletics has announced that its suspension of food and beverage service at home athletic events is extended through at least Sunday, Jan. 27.
For basketball home games, no concessions will be available and food and beverage options will continue to be suspended in all hospitality areas. This is consistent with the university's current protocols to reduce the risk of COVID transmission during the current surge of the Omicron variant. Duke Athletics thanks its fans for remaining diligent in adhering to the University's indoor mask mandates and again reminds its patrons to wear proper, tight-fitting masks that cover the nose and mouth when indoors on campus.
What is Next?...
Duke will hit the road for a contest at fifth-ranked Louisville on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. The game will be aired live on ESPN.
A Look at North Carolina...
North Carolina enters the contest with a 15-3 overall and 5-3 league mark, but has dropped three out of its last five games. Deja Kelly (17.2 points, 34 treys), Alyssa Ustby (13.1 points, 8.3 rebounds) and Eva Hodgson (10.3 points) have led the Tar Heels on the season.
The Series with North Carolina...
Duke and North Carolina will face off for the 106th time in program history with North Carolina leading the series 53-52. The two teams have met at least once a season for the last 48 years, except for 2020-21 due to COVID shutting down Duke's season.
The Blue Devil's longest win streak against the Tar Heels is 12 games from March 6, 2000 to March 8, 2004. Duke currently features a five-game winning streak in the series.
In its last meeting, Duke won 73-54 on March 1, 2020 in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Blue Devils are 29-15 at home in the series with six straight wins.
Taylor Misses Fourth Straight Game...
Celeste Taylor has missed three games since being injured at Syracuse on Jan. 9.
In the four games Taylor has been out, the Blue Devils have seen their offense struggle - hitting 40.0 percent from the field, 26.3 percent from downtown and averaged only 57.2 points. The Duke defense has allowed 61.5 points in those games as well. In the first 13 games with Taylor, Duke hit 44.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from downtown and averaged 74.7 points.
