DURHAM – Off to a blazing start to the 2021-22 indoor track and field season, the Duke women checked in at No. 18 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, as announced on Monday afternoon.
The Blue Devils are one of four ranked teams from the ACC, joining No. 6 NC State, No. 13 Virginia Tech and No. 25 Virginia. This is the second-highest ranking in program history, sitting just behind last season's No. 17 ranking on April 12. Additionally, the Blue Devil women sit fourth in the Southeast Region.
Monday's ranking comes on the heels of a strong start to the indoor season which has seen the Duke women combine for 11 top-five program marks across the first three meets.
Most recently at the Hokie Invitational, the Duke women collected nine top-five placements and moved into the program record books in three events.

Isabel Wakefield took first and second in the women's pentathlon with 4,172 points and 4,159 points, respectively. Wakefield's performance featured a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a PR and the No. 2 all-time mark of 8.27 seconds, while her overall total ranks third on the Duke list. Graduate student
Lauren Hoffman also moved into second all-time on Duke's 300m list with a personal best of 38.45 seconds.
In addition, the Blue Devils collected its third win of the season in the women's 4x400m relay, as the team of Hoffman, junior
Carly King and freshmen
Megan McGinnis and
Chyler Turner clocked 3:41.27.
The Duke men also earned a spot in the regional rankings as the No. 3 team in the Southeast.
Duke returns to action Feb. 4-5 when the Blue Devils take part in the Camel City Invitational and Virginia Tech Elite Meet. Several members of the team will head to Winston-Salem, while others make their return to Blacksburg, Va., for the third meet in a row.
