Jillian Wolgemuth is with the USA Field hockey national team set to compete in the 2022 Pan American Cup in Santiago, Chile. The United States opens tournament action against Trinidad & Tobago Jan. 19.

The Pan American Cup is an international indoor field hockey competition for men and women organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF). This event is a direct qualifier for the FIH Hockey World Cup.

Wolgemuth was a standout defender for the Blue Devils from 2016-19, earning NFHCA All-America third team recognition as a senior. She started 72 of her 78 games at Duke and garnered All-ACC honors her junior and senior seasons.

A native of Mount Joy, Pa., Wolgemuth was a crucial part of the Blue Devils posting 22 shutouts in her three years as a starter on the backline. She also contributed on the offensive end, scoring three goals and five assists for 11 points.

Wolgemuth most recently was a part of the U.S. Women's National Team European travel roster in the spring of 2021. She has played for the U17, U19 and U21 national teams over the course of her career.

The seven countries competing are Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Canada, Peru and Trinidad & Tobago. The United States is in a pool with Canada, Peru and T&T.Β The pools are based on FIH Outdoor Rankings from September.

Action opens Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Canada and Peru squaring off. The United States battles T&T at 4:15 p.m.

The team will have a day off between each game as it faces Canada Jan. 21 and Peru Jan. 23.Β The winner of Pool B earns a spot in the semifinal round while the runner-up and third-place teams will play the respective third-place and runner-up from Pool A.

The third-place and championship matches are set for January 29 with the top three teams qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
