DURHAM – The No. 4 Duke men's soccer program (7-1-0, 3-0-0 ACC) is set for a matchup of top-15 and undefeated ACC teams, as the Blue Devils will play host to No. 14 Louisville (7-2-0, 3-0-0 ACC) on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in Koskinen Stadium.
Â
Both teams are the only remaining undefeated squads in the ACC, with each holding one game leads in opposite divisions. The Blue Devils are attempting to start the season 8-1-0 or higher for the first time since 2004, when the team started 11-0. Friday's game will be broadcast on ACCNX.

Last Time Out
- Behind an offensive explosion, the Blue Devils took down Howard, 4-0, on Tuesday night.
- Sophomore Thorleifur Ulfarsson was the star of the show, recording his second collegiate hat trick in his 12th career game. Ulfarsson scored in the 26th, 55th and 73rd minutes and now has five goals and 10 points in four games this season.
- Freshman Felix Barajas added a goal and an assist in the victory, to jump to seven points in his first collegiate season. The Los Angeles, Calif., native was electric in 39 minutes off the bench, recording four shots.
- Freshman Shakur Mohammed earned the first multi-assist game by a Blue Devil since Max Moser notched two assists in a 3-0 win over Harvard on September 8, 2019.
- The Blue Devils recorded season-highs in shots (27) and shots on goal (15), with the Blue Devils registering their largest shooting output since the same win over Harvard on September 8, 2019.
- Sophomore JT Harms recorded his second shutout of the season in net, making two saves in the win.
Tale of the Tape
- The Cardinals enter Koskinen on a five-game win streak and season-high ranking of No. 14, checking in at 7-2-0 and 3-0-0 in the ACC.
- Louisville is coming off a prolific offensive performance on Tuesday, defeating Western Illinois 7-1.
- Entering in a tie for first in the ACC in total goals, the Louisville offense is led by Aboubacar Camara, who has seven goals and 15 points in nine games this season. Joining Camara on the attack are Pedro Fonseca and Sander Roed, who have 15 and 11 points, respectively.
- Head Coach John Michael Hayden is off to his best start as a head coach, in year three at the helm at Louisville. Hayden will see Duke for the first time in his head coaching tenure.
Opponent History
- The Blue Devils and Cardinals are meeting for the eighth time in program history on Friday night.
- Louisville holds the all-time series lead, with the Blue Devils trailing 1-5-1 overall.
- The two teams last met on Sept. 9, 2018, when the Cardinals earned a 3-0 win in Louisville.
What to Watch For
- The Blue Devils have won all seven of their games via a shutout. Should the team earn a clean sheet against the Cardinals, it would set a program record for most shutouts to start a season. This season shares the top mark with the 2004 squad.
- Duke has had at least one All-ACC honoree in every season since 1976, including every year of head coach John Kerr's tenure.
- Senior Eliot Hamill ranks near the top of nearly every major statistic in the country, ranking tied for first in the nation in save percentage (0.964, with San Diego State's Jacob Castro), third in goals against average (0.162) and sixth in shutouts (five). The Scarsdale, N.Y., native also leads the ACC in all those categories.
- With five shutouts this season, Hamill is now just two away from entering a tie for 11th in the single season shutout rankings.
- The Blue Devils rank fifth in the nation in goal differential, outscoring opponents 17-1 over the first eight games.
- The Blue Devils have gotten plenty of production from the freshman class, with 17 of the team's 49 points (34.7%) coming from them. Barajas leads the way with seven points, while Mohammed has five, Ruben Mesalles has four and Jai Bean has one.
- Senior Ian Murphy started the 50th game of his collegiate career on Tuesday. The Redlands, Calif., native has four goals and seven assists for 15 points in his career, with two assists this season, anchoring the defense with 4,668 career minutes.
