DURHAM – Duke wrestling rising redshirt seniors
Josh Finesilver and
Matt Finesilver have earned preseason rankings from InterMat. Matt holds the highest ranking at No. 9 in the country at 174 pounds, while Josh ranks No. 11 at 149 pounds.
Matt is set to return to action after missing the past season due to injury. A two-time NCAA qualifier, Finesilver has recorded a 51-20 record over two full seasons in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Finesilver has finished fourth and second in his first two attempts at the ACC Championship and remains one of five in program history to have qualified for the NCAA Championship as a true freshman, joining his brothers Josh and
Mitch Finesilver.
Josh is a three-time NCAA qualifier who was the Blue Devils lone representative at the NCAA Championship in 2021. Finesilver compiled a 9-5 overall record last season, going 3-2 in the ACC. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native defeated three ranked wrestlers last year, for the most in a single season in his collegiate career, with all coming at the NCAA Championship. Over his three seasons on the mat, Finesilver has recorded a 51-37 ledger, finishing third at the ACC Championship on two occasions.
Both Finesilvers will return to lead a young Blue Devil squad that will compete in a full season of action in the fall following a COVID-19 adjusted 2020 season.
