- Senior Eliot Hamill recorded a career-high eight saves in the loss, as his shutout streak to start the season ended at 285:31 minutes.
Tale of the Tape
- The Hokies enter Koskinen with a record of 2-0-2, checking in with a season-high ranking of No. 6 according to the United Soccer Coaches poll.
- Virginia Tech has one of the top wins by any team this season, defeating No. 1 Marshall on Aug. 29. The Hokies are coming off a 3-3, double overtime draw against No. 20 Seton Hall on Sept. 6.
- The offense is driven by Landon Ameres, who has three goals, for six points over four games. Ameres is one of two players with multiple goals, joining Sivert Haugli who has two over the same stretch.

Opponent History
- The Blue Devils and Hokies are set to meet for the 23rd time, with Duke holding a series lead of 14-4-4.
- The two teams last met on March 6, 2021, when the Blue Devils registered a 4-2 win in Blacksburg, Va. Current sophomore Nick Pariano scored a goal in the game to help lead Duke to its highest scoring output of the season.
What to Watch For
- A win over Virginia Tech would give the Blue Devils four wins and match last season's win total just five games in.
- Should the Blue Devils win, it would be the fifth time the team has started a season 4-1-0 or better since Head Coach John Kerr started at Duke in 2008.
- Duke has had at least one All-ACC honoree in every season since 1976, including every year of Kerr's tenure.
- Hamill enters the weekend as the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Week. He was honored on Sept. 7, following a 1-0 shutout of Michigan in Ann Arbor, in which he made two saves. The Scarsdale, N.Y., native began the season with 285:31 minutes of consecutive shutouts and has now made 11 saves over three starts with two shutouts and a 0.32 goals against average.
- The Blue Devils rank ninth in the nation in goal differential, outscoring opponents 8-1 over the first four games.
- The Blue Devils' offense has been aggressive to start the season, averaging 18.75 shots per game and recording 20 or more shots in three of four games. The 18.75 shots per game ranks sixth in the nation, with Conor Kelly leading the team with 11 shots.
- Senior Ian Murphy needs to start four more games to reach 50 starts in his collegiate career.
