DURHAM, N.C. – With the 2021 NCAA men's soccer season set to get underway in a matter of days, the Duke men's soccer program will begin a stretch of several exhibition matches in preparation for the home opener against Liberty on Aug. 27.

The Blue Devils will get their first turn on the pitch as they travel to Conway, S.C., to face No. 25 Coastal Carolina on Thursday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. The road trip continues Saturday, as the Blue Devils return to North Carolina to face UNC-Wilmington on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m.

- Head Coach John Kerr enters his 14th season at the helm of the program. Kerr has compiled a career record of 203-155-45 and 122-96-32 at Duke.
- The Blue Devils remain a very young group, with 17 players as either a freshman or sophomore, versus eight players as a junior or older.
- The Blue Devils are looking to improve on their record of 4-10-3 from last season, returning six of their 10 top point scorers.

Opponent History
- The Blue Devils hold a 2-0 all-time series advantage against Coastal Carolina. Both regular season meetings have come in the NCAA Tournament, with Blue Devils last defeating the Chanticleers in Durham 2-1 on Nov. 18, 2010. In non-regular season matchups, the Blue Devils recently beat the Chanticleers, 4-1 in an exhibition on Aug. 23, 2019.Â
- The Blue Devils own a 15-9-2 record all-time against UNC-Wilmington, with the first meeting dating back to 1973. The two teams met nearly six months ago, playing to a 0-0 2OT draw in Durham on Feb. 26, 2021.
- Both opponents will open their respective exhibition slate against the Blue Devils.
What to Watch For
- Last season's freshmen will look to build on a big opening campaign in 2021. All four All-ACC Freshman Team honorees, including All-ACC Third Team midfielder Peter Stroud, are back with a full season of experience under their belts. Forward Thorleifur Ulfarsson and midfielders Antino Lopez and Nick Pariano round out a talented unit.
- With Stroud and Pariano returning, the Blue Devils are one of two teams to return multiple top-10 finishers in the ACC in assists, joining ACC Coastal Division champion Pittsburgh.
- The Blue Devils are welcoming six new freshmen into the fold. Forward Jai Bean, midfielders Felix Barajas, Sebastian Docters, Ruben Mesalles, Shakur Mohammed, and goalie Grant Farley will all get their first experience in the blue and white.
