INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three Blue Devils dove in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Indianapolis, Ind., on Wednesday, June 9.
Duke alumnus
Evan Moretti punched his ticket for the 3-meter springboard finals after placing 12th in the semifinals with a score of 698.60. A 2019 graduate of Duke, Moretti was a three-time honorable mention All-American and four-time ACC Men's Diver of the Week while at Duke.
Fellow Duke alum
Nathaniel Hernandez ('20) joined Moretti in the 3-meter springboard. Hernandez reached the semifinals after a strong opening round and placed 15th in the evening session with a score of 686.75.
Ali Watson also competed on Wednesday at the Trials. Watson, a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., placed 21st in the women's platform by scoring a 218.80.
Earlier in the week of competition, incoming Blue Devil
Margo O'Meara competed in two diving events and reached the finals in both. In the synchronized 3-meter, O'Meara teamed up with Kristen Hayden and scored a 513.00 to place fourth in the semifinals. Individually, the St. Louis native scored a 525.30 in the 3-meter semifinals to place 11th and secure a place in the finals.
Moretti will compete in the men's 3-meter final on June 12 at 8 p.m. In addition, O'Meara competes in the finals of the synchronized 3-meter on June 10 at 7 p.m. and the 3-meter on June 12 at 4 p.m. The individual events will be broadcast live on NBC.
