In a partnership with Stanford, The ACE Program provides funding for accepted Duke student-athletes to participate in three-week, immersive summer service experiences with an international community partner. The program is made possible by the generous support of David Rubenstein and Peter and Helen Bing.
This summer, ACE will offer four virtual service programs focused on supporting community-based organizations located in Peru, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam. Virtual programs allow ACE the opportunity to continue to offer impactful summer service experiences for Duke and Stanford student-athletes in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
This summer's programs are a culmination of the efforts of the ACE staff, ACE Ambassador Alumni and community partners working together over the past year to design meaningful virtual service experiences. Building off the success of ACE in Place 2020 and virtual prototype programs that were tested in the fall, ACE is excited to bring Duke and Stanford student-athletes the opportunity to participate in a full-fledged virtual international experience where they will work on collaborative service projects, form relationships across the Duke and Stanford athletic community and connect with community partners around the world.

"Participating in ACE this summer is worth it to me because the program will enable me to gain practical experience working on sustainable community development projects. Through this experience, I hope to enact meaningful, positive change on the lives of others." - Finn Hossfeld, fencing (ACE in Place Thailand)
"ACE provides opportunities to meet other athletes from both Stanford and Duke from a variety of sports, allowing me to understand how other student-athletes are working to achieve their goals and helping me both in my sport and in the classroom. It also provides a gateway into the professional world that I may not otherwise have the opportunity to do because of my position as a student-athlete at Duke." - Catherine Purnell, swimming & diving (ACE in Place Peru)
