GREENSBORO, N.C. – The ACC announced the 2021 Women's Golf All-ACC Academic Team Thursday with five Duke golfers selected, while Blue Devil junior
Gina Kim was tabbed the ACC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Along with Kim earning the Scholar-Athlete of the Year nod, senior
Jaravee Boonchant, Kim, sophomore
Erica Shepherd, freshman
Phoebe Brinker and freshman
Anne Chen received All-ACC Academic Team accolades.
Duke, Virginia and Virginia Tech led the way with five honorees each.
A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., Kim was one of the top golfers in the ACC and nationally all season. In April, she earned ACC individual medalist honors in stroke play competition and helped lead Duke to the ACC Championship with match play victories over Virginia in the semifinals and Florida State in the finals.  Kim finished fifth at the NCAA Championship as Duke advanced to the NCAA semifinals. She posted the second-lowest stroke average in the conference this season, was ranked No. 10 by Golfstat in the final ledger and earned WGCA First-Team All-America honors.
Kim became the sixth different Blue Devil to earn the Women's Golf ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year nod joining Virginia Elena Carta (2020), Leona Maguire (2017 & 2018), Celine Boutier (2015), Lindy Duncan (2012 & 2013), Alison Whitaker (2010) and Amanda Blumenherst (2008 & 2009).
It marked the third time Boonchant earned All-ACC Academic Team accolades, while Kim received honors for the second time.  The honor for Shepherd, Brinker and Chen is a first for the Blue Devils.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
