DURHAM – Duke freshman
Ian Siebers has been named to the 2021 PING All-East Region Men's Golf Team, which was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Siebers is one 26 players on the East Region squad, which includes Division-I colleges in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee.
The Bellevue, Wash., native, Siebers led the Blue Devils with a stroke average of 71.07, which set the program's single-season freshman record. Siebers, an All-ACC selection in 2021, also led Duke this season in top-10 finishes (four), top-20 finishes (seven), rounds of par of better (19), rounds under par (16) and rounds in the 60s (nine). Of his 27 rounds played this season, 26 counted towards Duke's cause (96%).
Siebers twice shot rounds of 6-under 66 this season, which were the lowest carded by a Blue Devil in 2021 and his 13-under 203 at the Stitch Intercollegiate was the lowest 54-hole score for Duke this season. His 71.07 scoring average set Duke's freshman record and ranked fourth on the program's single-season list. Both his nine rounds in the 60s and 19 rounds of par or better stand second all-time by a Duke freshman, while his 16 rounds under par tied the Duke freshman single-season mark.
