JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Duke track and field program wrapped up day three at the NCAA East Regional at the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium on the campus of North Florida on Friday. The Blue Devils competed in four events on the day.

In the first event of the day, sophomore
Beau Allen made his NCAA East Regional debut in the high jump. Allen cleared the first bar with ease and was able to secure what would be his final mark of 2.06m (6-9 feet). The mark place Allen in 17th place in his flight and 41st overall.

Later that afternoon, senior
Alex Miley competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Miley turned in a courageous effort but fell short of qualification to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, turning in a time of 9:09.03 to take 10th in his heat and 28th place overall.

Graduate student
Connor Atkinson competed in his 400m hurdles quarterfinal later that evening, running a time of 51.29 to take sixth place in the heat. The Ashburn, Va., native delivered another strong time, but was just edged out for a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing 16th overall and falling just 0.25 seconds shy of qualification.

In the final event of the evening, the men's 4x400m relay team delivered a strong performance, finishing 17th overall. The team of
Alejandro Rodriguez,
Ezra Mellinger, Atkinson and
Alex Schwedt turned in another top-five run in Duke history, clocking in at 3:10.34 to rank third in program history. The run marks a historic 4x400m relay season for the men, who set three of the top five marks in program history with various combinations throughout the season.

The Blue Devils will wrap up action at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday, with a packed day of events, beginning with the women's high jump at 1 p.m. Senior

Elasia Campbell and freshman
Brianna Smith are hoping to punch their tickets to Eugene, Ore., in the first event of day four.
