Siebers Earns All-ACC Honors in Men's Golf

GREENSBORO – Duke freshman Ian Siebers has been named to the 2021 All-ACC Men's Golf Team, which was announced Monday.
Siebers is one of four freshmen on the list of 15 individuals to earn All-ACC recognition this season. The All-ACC Team, Player, and Freshman of the Year are decided by a combination of the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings in conjunction with a vote of the league's 12 head coaches. Coach of the Year was selected by a vote of the coaches. Siebers is ranked 66th by Golfstat and 67th by Golfweek, the 13th-best average rank in the ACC.
A Bellevue, Wash., native, Siebers leads the Blue Devils in stroke average at 71.00, which is on pace to set the program's single-season freshman record. Siebers also tops Duke's charts this season in top-10 finishes (four), top-20 finishes (six), rounds of par of better (17), rounds under par (14) and rounds in the 60s (eight). Of his 24 rounds played this season, 23 have counted towards Duke's cause (96%).
A week after finishing tied for 10th at the ACC Championship, Siebers was the co-medalist at the local qualifier for the 2021 U.S. Open at the Duke University Golf Club. He will attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines at a final qualifying site later this month.
Siebers joins former standouts Chandler Eaton (2017) and Adam Long (2007) as the lone Blue Devils in the last 20 years to earn All-ACC honors as a freshman.
The Blue Devils are next in action at the NCAA Noblesville Regional set for May 17-19 at the Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind. The five low teams from each regional site advance to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., in late May.
