DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 8 Duke women's lacrosse team (6-5, 2-5) is back in action for its final road contest of the regular season. The Blue Devils will take on No. 16 Louisville (5-6, 1-5 ACC) Thursday at 7 p.m., on ACC Network. Thursday begins the first of three games in 10 days for Duke.
OPENING DRAW
Thursday marks the eighth meeting between the two programs as Duke holds a strong 6-1 advantage in the series. The two last met in 2019 with Duke coming away with an 11-10 double overtime victory in Louisville.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 8 Duke dropped a narrow 17-15 decision at No. 4 Boston College last Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Blue Devils were led by senior
Catriona Barry with four goals to tie her career high while
Katie Cronin and
Catherine Cordrey each added three goals.
Caroline DeBellis (2),
Katie DeSimone (1),
Olivia Carner (1) and
Maddie Jenner (1) rounded out the Blue Devil's offense. DeSimone also dished out two assists.
Defensively for Duke,
Callie Humphrey,
Maddie Johnston and Cronin each caused two turnovers while Humphrey also collected two ground balls. The Eagles won the battle at the draw despite Jenner leading both teams with eight. Both squads were nearly flawless on clears as Duke completed 13-of-15.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

Louisville is 5-6 overall and 1-5 in conference action and snapped a four-game losing streak last weekend with a 13-9 victory against Virginia Tech.
Louisville is led by Ally Hall (27 goals, 33 points), Caroline Blalock (20 goals, 30 points) and Hannah Morris (21 goals, 23 points).
The Cardinals are averaging 10.45 goals/game and own a 12.19 GAA average as goalkeeper Rachel Florek has a .452 save percentage.
Hall was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on March 23 after making seven saves for a .500 save percentage in the 19-7 victory over Hofstra.
THREE NAMED TO TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
The Tewaaraton Foundation announced additions to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch Lists and graduate student
Callie Humphrey was among the nine new honorees.
Humphrey joins
Maddie Jenner and
Gabby Rosenzweig who were named to the initial watch list in March.
The initial lists that were announced March 11 included the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse to highlight the early contenders for this year's Tewaaraton Award. These April additions represent players from 13 men's programs and nine women's programs.
HUMPHREY CLIMBING THE CTO CHARTS
Graduate student
Callie Humphrey has proven to be among the Duke greats and continues to climb the charts on the all-time list.
In Duke's setback to No. 5 Notre Dame, Humphrey caused seven turnovers and now owns 92 in her career, ranking 6th in program history.
Humphrey has appeared in 73 games, starting 66 over her career. The Summit, N.J., native has 128 career ground balls along with her 92 caused turnovers.
She reached the 100-ground ball mark with a five-ground ball performance at William & Mary on Feb. 26, 2020. Her 128 ground balls puts her at 15th on the Duke all-time chart.
CORDREY JUMPS ON CAREER CHARTS
Graduate student
Catherine Cordrey is proving to be one of the more well-rounded players in Blue Devil history, ranking in the top-30 on the career charts in both goals and total points.
With 20 goals this season, second on the team, the Summit, N.J., product holds 110 goals to her name. She sits 20th on the all-time lists for Duke.
In addition, she holds 140 career points to her name to rank 24th in Duke history. She became the 30th Blue Devil with 100+ points with three points on one goal and two assists at Navy on Feb. 16, 2020.
She also became the 20th Blue Devil to reach the 100-goal plateau with her four-goal performance against East Carolina on Feb. 28, 2021.
