DURHAM – Duke attackman
Joe Robertson and goaltender
Mike Adler both collected weekly accolades after their stellar performances in the 12-11 overtime win over No. 2 North Carolina last week. Robertson was named the ACC Men's Lacrosse Co-Offensive Player of the Week and garnered USILA Team of the Week recognition, while Adler was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Robertson registered four goals, including the overtime winner, and three assists for seven points to lead the top-ranked Blue Devils to the thrilling victory. The senior captain is tied for the most goals on the team at 27, while also ranking second in the league with 3.38 goals per game. The seven-point outing marked the fourth five-plus point game of the season and the 14th of his career and his 24th career hat trick.
Adler picks up his second ACC weekly award after making a season-high 17 saves versus the Tar Heels. The graduate student backstop was outstanding throughout the game, but was exception in the first half with 12 saves. He made one stop in overtime to give the Blue Devils back the ball, leading to Robertson's goal. It was his third double-digit save performance of the year and the 32nd of his career.
A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Adler currently ranks eighth nationally with an 8.39 goals against average and is second in the ACC with a .576 save percentage.
Ranked No. 1 for the sixth week this season, Duke faces No. 5 Notre Dame Saturday, April 10 at 12 p.m., on ESPNU.
