- Duke makes its 26th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament when it faces Arizona State on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET at Johnson Stadium (East Carolina University).
- The match will be broadcast on ESPN3 and streamed on NCAA.com.
- The Blue Devils earned the No. 9 overall seed in the tournament after posting a 10-5-3 record during the 2020-21 season.
- Duke is 13-9-0 all-time in the second round of the tournament.
- Duke has not faced an opponent from the Pac-12 since the 2017 College Cup. Saturday's match will be the first against Arizona State in program history.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Ruthie Jones is coming off a clean-sheet performance against Vanderbilt which earned her ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Jones brings a streak of 243 minutes and 36 seconds without allowing a goal into Saturday.
DUKE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Blue Devils are set to make their 26th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and sixth consecutive appearance in the second round.
Duke is 40-22-10 all-time in tournament games, and 13-9-0 in the second round. The Blue Devils have come out on top in 7-of-9 tournament matches that went to penalty kicks.
Under head coach
Robbie Church, Duke is 34-16-9 in the tournament with eight quarterfinal appearances and three trips to the College Cup (2011, '15, '17).
Seeded as the No. 9 overall team, the Blue Devils go into the tournament as a top-10 seed for the ninth time since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 2001. This year's tournament features 48 teams, with the top 16 seeds receiving a first-round bye.
SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS
Arizona State made a strong statement in the opening round, handing Siena its first loss of the season in a 4-0 decision.
Freshman defender Lucy Johnson recorded a goal and an assist from the back end, while sophomore goalkeeper Giulia Cascapera made one save in 84 minutes in the shutout effort.
The Sun Devils dropped three consecutive matches to close out the regular season, but had a pair of resume-boosting victories in the spring -- first over No. 3 UCLA (3/26) and then against defending national champion Stanford (4/4).
After not competing in the fall, Arizona State opened the spring campaign with a 6-0-2 record in its first eight games, climbing to No. 16 in the USCA national poll. The Sun Devils enter Saturday with a 9-5-2 mark.
Junior forward Nicole Douglas has continued to establish herself as one of the top offensive performers in the nation this season. She ranks tied for second in goals (9) and tied for fourth in points (21) in the Pac-12.
Cascapera has started 15 matches in goal, collecting an 8-5-2 record with 52 saves and a 0.82 goals against average.
DUKE VS. THE PAC-12
Saturday is the 34th game in program history against an opponent from the Pac-12, with Duke holding a 14-17-2 record.
The Blue Devils have faced four Pac-12 opponents a total of seven times in the NCAA Tournament, collecting a 2-3-2 mark in those matches.
Two of those contests came in the College Cup -- a 1-0 loss to Stanford in the 2011 National Championship and a defeat in penalty kicks (4-3) against UCLA in the 2017 semifinal.
LAST TIME OUT: DUKE 0, VANDERBILT 0 (2OT)
Then-No. 7 Duke closed out the regular season by battling No. 14 Vanderbilt to a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes and two 10-minute overtime periods at Koskinen Stadium on Sunday, April 11.
The Blue Devils were on the attack for the majority of the match with 12 shots, including six on goal. Sophomore
Ruthie Jones made a pair of saves in the later stages of the game, highlighted by a game-saving stop in the 94th minute.

Natasha Turner were all recognized in a pregame ceremony as part of Senior Day. The 2021 senior class has contributed to 58 wins over its four years at Duke.
The Duke defense did not allow a goal in the final four-plus matches at Koskinen Stadium, holding opponents scoreless over the last 426 minutes and 39 seconds of play.
JONES CARRIES SCORELESS STREAK INTO TOURNAMENT

Ruthie Jones was tapped the ACC Defensive Player of the Week after making two saves in a clean-sheet performance against Vanderbilt on April 11. The Charlotte, N.C., native has not allowed a goal in her last 243 minutes and 36 seconds of action.
Jones has recorded 10 clean sheets and eight shutout wins this season -- each ranks second in the ACC -- after taking over the starting role on Sept. 17 versus Virginia. She has recorded 43 saves and boasts a 0.78 goals against average in 1,505 minutes.
During the fall campaign, Jones held a streak of 429:21 without allowing a goal, which ranks sixth in program history. She also opened the spring by going 1:55:12 without yielding a goal before No. 7 West Virginia broke through in the seventh minute on March 27.
NOTING DUKE
- The Blue Devils are 10-0-0 on the season when scoring first and 0-5-1 when the opponent scores first.
- Duke is 6-0 when leading at the half.
- After being limited to just three goals between them in the first 14 matches this season, the junior tandem of Marykate McGuire and Mackenzie Pluck each had a tally in the win over Coastal Carolina on March 17. The pair combined for 17 goals in 2019.
- With two goals and an assist in the opening two games of the spring campaign, senior Tess Boade now owns 35 points in four years at Duke.
- Senior Taylor Mitchell has played 7,468 minutes over four years and ranks fifth in all-time minutes played at Duke.
- Fellow senior defender Caitlin Cosme played 300 minutes in eight matches her first two seasons at Duke, but has played 38 matches and 3,417 minutes over the last two years.
- On Oct. 13, Duke climbed to No. 5 in the national rankings for the first time since week 10 of the 2018 season. The Blue Devils' No. 4 national ranking a week later was the highest in a regular season poll since 2017.
- Duke finished the fall portion of the regular season with five consecutive road games, notching a 3-2 record on the swing. The Blue Devils are 5-3-0 on the season when playing away from home and 1-1-0 at a neutral site.
- Duke's defensive core features a veteran quartet of Cosme, Mitchell, Mia Gyau and Delaney Graham, who have combined for 19,806 minutes, 245 games played and 204 starts over the last four years.
