Thor Breaks Out With the Hat Trick
- Rookie striker Thorleifur Ulfarsson put on a goal-scoring show at Virginia last weekend, registering three goals to lead the Blue Devils to a 3-1 victory over the Cavaliers. The hat trick was the first by a Blue Devil since Zach Mathers had three against NC State Oct. 16, 2015. He is one of 16 players to record a hat trick this season and one of three from the ACC.
- Ulfarsson's three tallies came three different ways – pressuring a defender and capitalizing on a one-on-one with a goalie, a stellar free kick and firing home a rebound. His effort earned him multiple weekly awards – ACC Offensive Player of the Week, College Soccer News Player of the Week and Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.

- Duke and NC State meet for the 84th time in the programs' histories. The Blue Devils sport a 54-31-8 record against the Wolfpack and won both meetings in the fall. Duke is 7-3-3 under head coach John Kerr.
- NC State last beat the Blue Devils in the 2019 ACC Tournament first round.
Last Time We Met
- Duke scored three second-half goals to capture a 3-1 road victory at NC State to complete a 2-0 sweep against the Wolfpack in the fall. Three different Blue Devils scored for the Blue Devils in the win. Duke defeated NC State 1-0 in double overtime in the other game.
- Scoring for the Blue Devils were rookie Lewis McGarvey, captain Jack Doran and senior Daniel Wright. All three goals came off set pieces for the Blue Devils.

- Duke and NC State share three common ACC opponents in Wake Forest, North Carolina and Clemson. Duke went 0-4-0 in versus the group, while NC State was 0-5-2. The Wolfpack played both the Demon Deacons three times.
Last Time Out
- Duke freshman Thorleifur Ulfarsson recorded a hat trick to lift the Blue Devils to a convincing 3-1 victory at Virginia last Sunday at Klöckner Stadium.
- Ulfarsson scored twice in the first half, putting the Blue Devils ahead 2-0 at the break. He put the game away for certain in the 68th minute, putting a rebound in the back of the net.

About NC State
- NC State enters Saturday night's contest with a 3-8-2 overall record and a 3-2-1 mark in six games this spring. The Wolfpack are coming off a 2-1 overtime win over Syracuse, their first ACC victory of the 2020-21 season.
- Both Kuda Muskwe and Ivy Brisma have two goals and an assist as NC State has only eight goals in 13 games. Five of the eight goals have come this spring.
- NC State has allowed five goals this spring and 18 for the season. The Wolfpack shut out Wake Forest in a scoreless draw March 13 for their first clean sheet of the season. In goal, Leon Krapf has 34 saves and sports a .654 save percentage and a 1.31 goals against average.
On the Road
- Duke heads to NC State for its third road trip of the 2021 spring season. The Blue Devils are 3-3 away this season with setbacks at Kentucky, North Carolina and Clemson and wins at NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
- Overall, on the road Duke is 32-47-9 under head coach John Kerr and 22-28-6 in ACC regular season road contests.
