DURHAM – In a top 15 matchup between two ACC squads, the 13th-ranked Duke women's tennis team will host 12th-ranked NC State Thursday, April 1 at 4 p.m., at either the Ambler Tennis Stadium or Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center in Durham, N.C.
THE SERIES WITH NC STATE
Duke and NC State will meet for the 63rd time in school history with the Blue Devils holding a 61-1 ledger against the Wolfpack. Duke has won 16 straight matches in the series with the lone loss in the history of the two schools coming on April 14, 2007 in Raleigh, N.C. (5-2). Duke owns a 27-0 record against the Wolfpack in matches played in Durham, N.C.
NC STATE IN THE RANKINGS
NC State features Anna Rogers (5), Alana Smith (29) and Adriana Reami (112) in the singles rankings, while Jaeda Daniel/Reami (5), Smith/Rogers (9) and Lexi Keberle/Abigail Rencheli (33) are in the doubles ledger.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME
The last time Duke and NC State met was in the 2019 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 as the Blue Devils collected a 4-0 victory in Durham, N.C. After collecting the doubles point, Duke was able to get singles wins from
Meible Chi,
Kelly Chen and
Kaitlyn McCarthy to advance to the quarterfinals.
KEY ACC MATCH
Thursday's match with the Blue Devils and Wolfpack will be consequential in the ACC standings, as Duke currently features a 6-3 mark, while NC State is at 7-2. The Wolfpack will still have to travel to nationally ranked North Carolina and Virginia to conclude the regular season.

CHI MOVING UP WINS LIST
A product of Weston, Fla., Chi currently features a 128-37 all-time singles mark, which is good for fifth on Duke's all-time wins list. She needs seven more singles wins to move into a tie for fourth along with Julie Exum (135-41). Chi also features 39 career ACC singles wins, which ranks second. She needs two more league victories to match
Ellyse Hamlin (41) for the Duke record.
Chi owns a 219-76 combined singles and doubles wins over her Duke career, which ranks seventh on Duke's all-time charts. She will move into a tie for fourth along with Megan Miller, Amanda Johnson and Amanda Granson with one more win (220).
IN SINGLES ACTION
Four different Blue Devils have pushed past the double-digit singles wins ledger this season with Chi leading the way with a 16-3 record. She has collected a 13-2 dual match mark and an 8-1 ACC record. Dating back to the 2018-19 campaign, Chi has won 16 out of her last 17 ACC dual match singles contests.
Beck has collected a 13-3 singles mark and 6-1 ACC ledger. Drummy owns a 12-3 ledger, Bilokin has totaled a 12-6 record, Chen owns an 9-7 record and Berankova has an 8-8 mark.
DOUBLES ACTION
In doubles action, the duos of Beck and Berankova, as well as Chen and Drummy, own a team-best 11 doubles wins on the year. Chen/Drummy have won 10 straight matches and owns an 11-2 record. The duo are 10-0 in dual match action and 4-0 in the ACC. Beck/Berankova have totaled an 11-3 record, including 8-2 in dual action.
The Blue Devils' duo of Bilokin and Chi have collected a 9-2 ledger, including a 5-2 mark in conference play. Since getting paired together last season, Bilokin/Chi have notched a 13-5 record, including a 7-2 ledger in conference action.
Dating back to last season, Duke has won 17 out of the last 19 doubles points in dual matches.
Due to injuries, Chi and
Hannah Zhao saw action for the first time this season and knocked off the 21st-ranked duo of Emma Navarro and Rosie Johanson of Virginia (6-4). Chen and
Ema Lazic also played together for the first time and collected a 6-3 win over 41st-ranked Vivian Glozman and Amber O'Dell of Virginia. Chen/Lazic improved to 2-0 on the season Monday with a 6-0 blanking of Yashna Yellayi/Julia Andreach. Chi/Zhao moved to 5-1 all-time in doubles as a unit, but marked the first time since the 2019-20 campaign the tandem took the court together.
DRUMMY, BECK MISSES MISS MATCH
Drummy missed the North Carolina and Virginia contests with an ankle injury, but returned for doubles action against Notre Dame. She is listed as day-to-day. Since transferring into the Blue Devils, Drummy has totaled a 12-3 singles mark and 5-1 ACC ledger. Drummy is also 13-3 in doubles action, including an 11-0 dual match record. She paired with Berankova and knocked off the 11th-ranked doubles team nationally on Monday against Notre Dame.
Beck missed the Virginia and Notre Dame matches with a hand injury and is also listed as day-to-day.
LAZIC, ZHAO SEE ACTION IN SINGLES
With injuries forcing Drummy and Beck to miss the last two matches, Zhao saw her third straight dual match action at Virginia and was impressive in the first set against Amber O'Dell winning, 6-2. She struggled in the second and third set to fall, 6-4, 6-1. She dropped a three-set battle on Monday to Julia Andreach of Notre Dame.
Lazic saw action in the first dual match singles action of her four-year career at Virginia and took the first set over Sofia Munera, 6-2. Lazic led 4-3 in the second set, before falling, 5-7, and the match was abandoned with her trailing 2-3, after Virginia clinched the win. She came back on Monday against Notre Dame and collected her first collegiate ACC victory with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Maeve Koscielski.
BECK REGISTERS TOP-10 WIN
On the road at top-ranked North Carolina on March 19, Beck collected an impressive singles' win against sixth-ranked Cameron Morra. After dropping a close first set, 6-7, Beck responded by cruising to a 6-0 second set victory. In a back-and-forth super-tiebreaker, Beck came out on top winning, 12-10. It marked the highest singles win of her short career and second against a top-10 opponent. Beck owns a 21-3 dual match record and 8-1 ACC mark over her Duke career.
HOME WIN STREAK
The Blue Devils currently feature a 54-match home winning streak at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center and Ambler Tennis Stadium. The 54-match win streak is currently the longest among Power Five Conference teams with the next closest being North Carolina (43).
CHEN & CHI VERSUS RANKED
Over her four seasons with the Blue Devils, Chen has collected a 105-29 singles record. Of the 105 wins, 42 of them have come against ranked opponents. Chi is coming off posting back-to-back wins over ranked opponents to give her 38 all-time victories against a ranked opponent. She has knocked off Virginia's 18th-ranked Natasha Subhash and Notre Dame's 74th-ranked Page Freeman the last two matches. The win at Virginia marked the highest win against a ranked opponent since 11th-ranked Carla Touly in Nov. of 2018
MATCH-CLINCHING WINS
Chi clinched both of the Blue Devil wins against No. 5 Florida State and No. 30 Miami. She has now clinched 24 Duke wins during her tenure. Of the other Duke student-athletes on the 2021 roster, Chen has clinched 13, while Bilokin (10), Zhao (6) and Beck (4) have closed out Blue Devil wins over their career.
IN ACC ACTION
Duke has won 38 out of the last 54 ACC matches, including 30 straight home ACC wins.
WHAT IS NEXT
Duke will host Wake Forest on Saturday, April 3 at 12 p.m., for senior day. It will mark the final home match for the Blue Devils in the 2021 regular season. Duke will recognize Chi, Lazic and Zhao pregame Saturday for senior day.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, Duke University will begin its spring sport program seasons without spectators at home events. Contests played on Duke's campus will include essential game management personnel and broadcast media. Traditional parking lots used by fans on game day will be closed.
