DURHAM – The ninth-ranked Duke women's tennis team (10-2, 5-1 ACC) will head down Tobacco Road this week for an ACC contest at top-ranked North Carolina (16-0, 6-0) on Friday, March 19 at 3 p.m., at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
THE SERIES WITH NORTH CAROLINA
Duke and North Carolina will meet for the 90th time in the series history with the Blue Devils leading 47-42. As of late, the Tar Heels have controlled the series winning 10 out of the last 11 meetings and five in a row. The last victory for Duke came on April 20, 2018 as the Blue Devils upset No. 1 North Carolina, 5-2.
NORTH CAROLINA IN THE RANKINGS
The Tar Heels come in No. 1 as a team in the national rankings. In the singles ledger, UNC features seven ranked student-athletes – Alexa Graham (3), Sara Daavettila (4), Cameron Morra (6), Makenna Jones (49), Alle Sanford (53), Elizabeth Scotty (79), Fiona Crawley (120). In doubles action, the duos of Graham/Daavettila (3), Jones/Sanford (15) and Mora/Scotty (45) are listed.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME
Last season, Duke dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 2 North Carolina in the ITA National Indoors semifinals.
DUKE AGAINST NO. 1 RANKED TEAMS
Duke owns a 2-9 overall record against No. 1 ranked teams since the 1999-2000 campaign. The most recent victory came in 2018 with a 5-2 win at home against North Carolina. The other victory came in 2009 against Northwestern.
IN THE ITA TEAM RANKINGS
Duke had moved up to No. 6 in the ITA team rankings, before dropping a match at Georgia Tech last week. The Blue Devils currently are No. 9 nationally heading into the match against North Carolina. Over the last four seasons, Duke has been ranked in the top 10 in 46 of the last 50 ITA rankings.

CHI MOVING UP WINS LIST
A product of Weston, Fla., Chi currently features a 126-36 all-time singles mark, which is good for fifth on Duke's all-time wins list. She needs nine more singles wins to move into a tie for fourth along with Julie Exum (135-41). Chi also features 37 career ACC singles wins, which ranks fourth. Her next victory will tie her for second along with
Kaitlyn McCarthy and
Reka Zsilinszka (38).
Chi owns a 216-74 combined singles and doubles wins over her Duke career, which ranks eighth on Duke's all-time charts. She will move into a tie for seventh along with Jessi Robinson (218-136) when she nets two more wins.
IN SINGLES ACTION
Four different Blue Devils have pushed past the double-digit singles wins ledger this season with Chi leading the way with a 14-2 record. She has collected an 11-1 dual match mark and a 6-0 ACC record. Dating back to the 2018-19 campaign, Chi has won 14 consecutive ACC dual match singles contests. The last loss was to North Carolina's Sara Daavettila on March 6, 2019.
Drummy and Beck have both collected a 12-3 singles mark and 5-1 ACC ledger. Bilokin has totaled an 11-4 record and Berankova has a 7-6 mark.
DOUBLES ACTION
In doubles action, Beck and Berankova as well as Chen and Drummy owns a team-best 11 doubles wins on the year. Chen/Drummy have won 10 straight matches and owns an 11-2 record. The duo are 10-0 in dual match action and 4-0 in the ACC. Beck/Berankova have totaled an 11-3 record, including 8-2 in dual action.
The Blue Devils' duo of Bilokin and Chi have collected a 9-1 ledger, including a 5-1 mark in conference play. Since getting paired together last season, Bilokin/Chi have notched a 13-4 record, including a 7-1 ledger in conference action.
Dating back to last season, Duke has won 15 out of the last 16 doubles points in dual matches.
HOME WIN STREAK
The Blue Devils currently feature a 53-match home winning streak at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center and Ambler Tennis Stadium. The 53-match win streak is currently the longest among Power Five Conference teams with the next closest being North Carolina (42).
CHEN VERSUS RANKED
Over her four seasons with the Blue Devils, Chen has collected a 104-28 singles record. Of the 104 wins, 42 of them have come against ranked opponents.
MATCH-CLINCHING WINS
Chi clinched both of the Blue Devil wins against No. 5 Florida State and No. 30 Miami. She has now clinched 24 Duke wins over the years. Of the other Duke student-athletes on the 2021 roster, Chen has clinched 13, while Bilokin (9), Zhao (6) and Beck (4) have closed out Blue Devil wins over their career.
IN ACC ACTION
Duke has won 47 out of the last 51 ACC matches, including 29 straight home ACC wins.

Duke will next travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on Virginia Saturday, March 27 at 1 p.m.
COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Duke University will begin its spring sport program seasons without spectators at home events. Contests played on Duke's campus will include essential game management personnel and broadcast media. Traditional parking lots used by fans on game day will be closed.
