HISTORY WITH THE ORANGE
This weekend will be the second conference series between the two programs as Duke holds a 2-1 edge all-time. The first meeting was at Syracuse where the Blue Devils swept the Saturday doubleheader to claim the series in 2019.
RECAPPING ELON
The Blue Devils scored one run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to defeat Elon on the road. Junior Deja Davis turned in a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and stolen base while junior Kristina Foreman continued her hot bat, blasting a home run for the third straight game. Seniors Jameson Kavel and Sydney Bolan both singled while junior Caroline Jacobsen brought a runner home on a sac fly.
Freshman Claire Davidson made her third start on the mound this season, going 3.2 innings without letting up a hit. Senior Brianna Butler dealt 3.1 frames in which she tallied seven strikeouts to improve to 3-1 this season.
NEARING 100 WNS
With a 20-1 mark this season, Duke holds a 97-63 all-time program record. Head coach Marissa Young and the Blue Devils are just three victories shy of hitting the 100-win mark. After notching its 20th win against Elon, Duke is nine away from tying its single-season win record of 29 in 2018.
UP NEXT
Duke travels to Clemson for its first series against the Tigers, March 26-28, at McWhorter Stadium. The Blue Devils and Tigers met on opening day last season as Duke defeated Clemson, 11-0, in five innings.
