DURHAM, N.C. – Women's track & field senior
Erin Marsh has been selected Duke's PNC Achiever's Student-Athlete of the Week, after taking home a bronze medal and setting a program record in pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Marsh got off to a great start on day one of the competition, recording a time of 8.13 seconds to take first place in the 60-meter hurdles in the opening event. Marsh added a second-place finish in the long jump of 6.00m (19-8.25 feet) and secured her place in the top-three after turning in a PR mark of 2:17.53 in the 800m. Marsh recorded a point total of 4,344, besting the previous school record of 4,304, set by
Karli Johonnot in 2016.
In addition, Marsh added a 12
th place finish in the 60m hurdles on day two, becoming the first Blue Devil woman to compete in two NCAA events since
Shannon Rowbury (Mile/3000m) and
Liz Wort (3000m/DMR) in 2007.
The Buford, Ga., native's indoor season concluded with her taking home quite a bit of hardware, including an NCAA Indoor Championship bronze medal and two ACC Indoor Championship silver medals. Additionally, Marsh was named All-America First Team in the pentathlon, All-ACC First Team in 60m hurdles and high jump and All-ACC Second Team in the long jump.
Next up for Duke track & field is the start of the outdoor season. The Blue Devils will travel to High Point University for the Bob Davidson Invitational with events beginning on March 19.
