DURHAM, N.C.—Duke men's lacrosse goaltender Mike Adler and Blue Devil faceoff specialist Jake Naso garnered weekly recognition for their performances in the 19-7 win at Towson. Adler was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, while Naso captured USILA Team of the Week honors.
These are the first weekly awards this season for the Blue Devil duo as Adler is the second Duke player to pick up ACC Defensive Player of the Week recognition. Naso is the first Duke player voted to the USILA Team of the Week in 2021.
Making his third start in a Duke uniform, Adler had a stellar outing in the cage at Towson. The graduate student transfer finished the afternoon with eight saves, while holding the Tigers to just two goals in 45 minutes of action. He helped Duke hold Towson without a goal for 34:21 over the course of three quarters, including five third-quarter saves. Adler, playing 122 of the 240 minutes this season, sports a 7.85 goals against average and .590 save percentage.
Naso, in his third game as Duke's top draw man, had his best day at the faceoff X, winning 21-of-25 restarts and picking up a career-high 11 ground balls. In the past three games, Naso has won 52-of-75 faceoffs for a .693 win percentage and 27 ground balls. The Holtsville, N.Y., native currently ranks second in the ACC and sixth nationally in faceoff percentage (.684). His 6.75 ground balls per game average is third in the league and 16th nationally.
Duke, ranked second in the latest USILA coaches' poll, returns home to host Air Force Saturday, Feb. 27 at 12 p.m. The game will be streamed on ACCNX.
