DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 15 Duke women's lacrosse team remains in Durham to welcome No. 18/17 Virginia Tech to Koskinen Stadium for a 2 p.m., contest Sunday on ACC Network.
Duke holds a 20-3 series lead over Virginia Tech. In 2019, the Blue Devils snapped a three-game losing streak to the Hokies with an 11-10 overtime victory in Koskinen Stadium on Feb. 23.
LAST TIME OUT
The No. 15/11 Duke women's lacrosse team defeated William & Mary, 24-8, Wednesday evening in Koskinen Stadium to open the 2021 home slate.
Twelve different Blue Devils registered goals in the victory as sophomore
Caroline DeBellis contributed five points on two goals and three assists. Rookies
Katie DeSimone and
Katie Keller registered their first goals donning the Duke blue, while

Ainsley Thurston (1) helped guide Duke to victory.
Duke outshot William & Mary 42-22 and outdid the Tribe at the draw a whopping 24-9. In addition, Duke was flawless on clears, going 11-of-11.
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
The Blue Devils will face the Hokies on Sunday for the 24th time in program history and currently hold a dominant 20-3 lead in the series ledger.
The Hokies got off to a winning start in 2021 with a 13-5 victory at Liberty last week. Sarah Lubnow scored five points to lead the attack and Angie Benson secured eight saves in goal. The defense forced 34 Flame turnovers and held Liberty to just 61% on the clear.
In the season-opener, nine different players scored a point with eight unique goal scorers; Lubnow (3), Paige Petty (2), Allen (2), Grace Nelson (2), Emma Crooks (1), Sara Goodwin (1), Jacelyn Lazore (1) and Maddie Hoffman (1). Freshman Sophie Student added an assist in her collegiate debut and also had three draw controls, a ground ball and one caused turnover.
DUKE NETS OVERTIME WIN DURING LAST MEETING
In 2019, the Blue Devils snapped a three-game losing streak to the Hokies with an 11-10 overtime victory in Koskinen Stadium on Feb. 23.
During that meeting, senior
Ellie Majure buried a pass from
Catherine Cordrey 31 seconds into overtime in the 2019 ACC opener.
Olivia Jenner registered three goals and an assist for four points in the win.
DUKE IN THE POLLS
Duke finished 18th in the final Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll of the season, announced after the cancellation of the 2020 season.
In addition, Duke was 16th in the
Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and 19th in the
U.S. Lacrosse Magazine Poll.
The Blue Devils will begin the 2021 slate 15th in the Preseason IWLCA poll and 11th by
Inside Lacrosse.
CHALLENGING SLATE AHEAD
In 2021, Duke is slated to face six ranked opponents in the preseason IWLCA poll. The Blue Devils will go against No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Syracuse, No. 12 Boston College, No. 16 Virginia and No. 18 Virginia Tech.
The ACC landed seven teams on the preseason poll to lead all conferences.

FAN INFORMATION
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Duke University will begin its spring sport program seasons without spectators at home events. Contests played on Duke's campus will include essential game management personnel and broadcast media. Traditional parking lots used by fans on game day will be closed.
