How did you get started in rowing?
AH: I started rowing in sixth grade because a friend of mine wanted to try it out, so I tagged along. I ended up loving it so much that I rowed for a few years before switching to being a coxswain!
Why did you choose to row for Duke?
AH: I chose Duke because of the team culture and the competitive spirit. The team is so welcoming and I can tell that everyone has each other's back, which makes all the difference when rowing together and racing.
What impact do you plan to make in your four years?
AH: To win races alongside my teammates and go to NCAAs. I also want to be a strong member of the team who contributes to a positive and motivating team culture.
What stuck out to you about the team in your decision-making process?
AH: The values the coaches have about the role a coxswain plays in the boat. I felt that by coming to Duke, I could not only get the opportunity to cox for an amazing program, but to also continue to improve and collaborate with my coaches.
