Â
"The ninth annual First Pitch Banquet was special, even if it had to be virtual this year," Duke baseball head coach
Chris Pollard said. "One of the highlights of that event every year is announcing our leadership staff for the coming season. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the players got it right. This group of leaders will be a resource and provide a strong voice for this year's team.
Â
"Due to the pandemic, our roster is the largest it's ever been, and that leadership group will be pivotal to keeping us all rowing in the same direction. These guys represent the very best of our culture and I know they will work tirelessly to promote and uphold the core principles of the Duke baseball program."
Â
The program instituted the leadership council in 2015 in order to take advantage of the team's diverse group of leaders. The concept was originally inspired through conversations with former Blue Devil and current Pittsburgh Pirates Professional Evaluation Team LeaderÂ
Larry Broadway.
Â
The Blue Devils open the season at Coastal Carolina for a three-game series Feb. 19-21.
