DURHAM - The Duke women's lacrosse team will begin the year tabbed the No. 8 squad in the country, as announced by Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Women's Preseason Top 20.
Head coach Kerstin Kimel returns 10 starters, including six graduate returners who will use their final year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to COVID-19.
Graduate student Katie Cronin, sophomore Katie DeSimone, graduate student Catriona Barry, junior Olivia Carner and junior Caroline DeBellis all tallied 30+ points a season ago and combined for 175 points on the offensive front.
2022 USA Lacrosse Magazine's Preseason All-American attacker Maddie Jenner also returns in the draw circle. Last year, she tallied 187 draw controls to lead the ACC with 9.84/game and ranked third in the nation.
The ACC placed six teams in the top-20 rankings: No. 1 Boston College, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Syracuse, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 8 Duke and No. 11 Virginia.
